Hi,
This forum is my last resort as I’ve been accessing so much support from domestic abuse services, I’ve acquired so much knowledge and understanding about the topic but don’t have the capacity to face the consequences of leaving. I’ve tried to leave but feel intense distress being without him, which is somehow worse than living with him. I’m living in hell and desperate to find the strength to leave (detail removed by moderator). I have no support network so being entirely alone as a parent and being without him is petrifying. I can’t face it but don’t like my life with him and know it won’t be good for my baby. Help! I’m so weak and stuck. Everybody else speaks of relief and desperation to leave but I don’t experience this, just intense despair without him. Then when I return because I can’t face leaving, the abuse worsens. I’m completely trapped and living a life of hell on earth.

You’re not weak, far from it! It takes a strong person to live with abuse. Have you looked into FOG? Fear, obligation and guilt. It’s scary to leave, there’s comfort in living in abuse because it’s what you know, but that doesn’t mean it’s what you want or deserve. He’s probably stolen your confidence too, which makes you think you need his support and you might think you need him because he’s learnt what you want & is promising it – but it’s not real. It’s perfectly normal to take a few times to leave, focus on the life you want for you and baby xx
