ParticipantSocial services have done an investigation with regard to our children. They were notified by my local Women’s refuge.
The report has come back today and no action is being taken.
If anything I come out of it slightly worse.
I’m accused of leaving the home twice (so can’t be that scared my husband will abuse our son) and spoke out forcefully when the social workers were there (so can’t be that scared).
My husband is a good looking charming man. He always gets his way.
He also charmed the mediators.
I feel so foolish and like I will never get away. It’s not about being believed now. I realise no one will.

InactiveI’m so sorry that you have had a negative experience of social services. There was another recent post by someone who had an appalling experience of a social worker who clearly had no understanding of coercive and controlling behaviour. I hope that you have a supportive and understanding women’s aid worker to process this all with you. If not, then ring the women’s aid helpline for further support and to think through next steps towards your goals. I know how it feels to believe that you will never escape. I would never have got away without support from women’s aid, the helpline, this forum and a solicitor. Please don’t give up and keep reaching out for help and you will get there.

ParticipantIf you are not happy with the service you have recieved write a complaint. There is a charity that helps people who have similar experiences to the one you have spoken about, I’ve just had a quick google and can’t find it, so you could ask the WA helpline. I have found that a lot of the cafcass and social workers can be young and inexperienced. There’s lots of stuff online to help you write the best complaint and you can always contact cits advice for help with this too. It may help, especially if this professional has made some false assumptions, but if nothing comes of it then at the very least there is a formal record of your protest x
