Made it through my first Christmas as a single parent!

It wasn’t an overwhelmingly positive experience, everything is still quite raw with the recent break up and it felt lonely and sad sometimes.

      But….

The kids and I were safe, no one huffed and puffed. There was calm. No yelling, no fear, no constantly walking on eggshells.

      And that means everything.

Looking forward to the future with hope.

      Well done!
      That’s great news.
I think like you said, you have to just get through the first Christmas.
Look forward to the future ahead now xx

Well done, it’s no small feat. It was my first too and emotions were up and down, it’s exhausting doing it all but like you said there was no huffing, no eggshells, and happy / safe kids xx

It will be a future of safety for you and your children. Good on you for all your hard work on this Christmas

For the loneliness try a social group in your area – ie gardening, sports club, card games etc for socialising

A bit of a late reply, but congratulations. Christmas is lovely when you aren’t terrified and walking on eggshells. Our last Christmas in hell, my ex kicked the children’s stockings onto the floor as he didn’t want them on the bed and then he (detail removed by Moderator).
Every Christmas since we left has been amazing, I hope this continues for you into the New Year! Single parenting has its challenges (loneliness is one of them) but it’s worth it- well done to you!! Xx
