I can’t bear going to music gigs. I can’t bear watching the n**********c showmen. They remind me of my ex, (removed by moderator).

I can only tolerate certain sings. Some sings make me too upset. They evoke too many memories.

I have found a lovely radio station that I listen to in the car, which plays songs from the 80s, from before I knew him. As he was brought up in a different country from me, there seems to be no crossover here. This radio station is safe to me.

Hi serenity I listen to absolute 80s. But I always have reminders songs. But I just can’t listen to (removed by moderator)  although I love her songs I know he likes her I immediately switch it of. As it cuts like a knife. I also hate (removed by moderator)  as he told me he likes that. Or (removed by moderator) and I like them too but he does. These constant reminders turn my stomach into knots x

There is one song from (removed by moderator) that makes me puke. It the song that one rapist of the past loved, because (removed by moderator) had given a concert in his country. He played it all the time and even today I hear that song regularly on the radio. It is awful.
My ex husband/abuser loved the same music like me, unfortunately. But I have been deeply in love with this music since I was very young and I have been listening to it all my life.
Sometimes I think of him when I listen to it, but that gets better. I do not want to give up something that I loved all my life because of a useless creature.
And there is gospel music, which I hate. But that is another story of my life.

Yes…but I won’t write the title because they seem to get moderated out 😉

I’m just starting to be able to listen to the song he used to rape me to…the lyrics do include things like “Keep you in the dark” and “I’m the hand that will take you down, bring you to your knees”. Shudder-inducing really. But it’s a fighting song and I think I’m going to try and reclaim that one!
Sometimes it’s awfully triggering, other times I have no problems with it at all. But yea, determined to turn that around and add it to my list of fighting songs 😉
