My partner has controlled pretty much everything since we’ve been together esp finances. I want to leave as my mental health has taken a downward spiral. I’m worried I wont be able to figure things out.. we have a mortgage, a child, how would I buy another house, could I afford it. How do I make a plan, is there help for these things? feeling lost

      Hi,

Thank you for your post. I’m sorry to hear about your situation. I know this is a lot to think about especially when they have been controlling for so long. You and your child deserve to be safe and there is help out there for you.
Do reach out to your local domestic abuse service if you can- they should be able to support you with a safe plan to leave.

Rights of Women can provide free legal advice and their Family law advice line can advise around domestic abuse; divorce, finances, cohabitation and property in relationship breakdown; parental responsibility and child arrangements. They are available on 020 7251 6577 (Tues-Thurs 7-9pm and Fri 12-2pm).

      Best Wishes

      Lisa
