      Hello everyone,
well I can’t moan about my babes being with me. That is she is here this week.

And I hate to moan about the weather but I can’t function in it, I really can’t
had a skin lesion last year and very cautious anyway going out in the sun

Warning from the met office is dont go out until Friday,,? how is that supposed to work in school holidays?

summer holidays a stretch, can someone else start listing positives just for motivation?

      I’lll give it a go:

I put the bins out today
      did the recycling
      cleaned the kitchen a bit
it is cool in our flat, relatively
      babes and me didn’t argue…

Feel free to have a go lovely ladies…

Hi ftc, sorry to hear you are also struggling in the heat but glad to see you can still find the positives. I did not enjoy today at work it was so hot; I felt quite ill at times. I was exhausted by the time I got home and new that dear child would need attention and I really wasn’t in the mood to chat incessantly about <insert latest pre-teen obsession here>.

So – to my positives – by the time I had cooked tea it was cool enough to eat outside. Afterwards we played in the garden – it’s like my pre-teen is able to have a second childhood! We act silly and have a good natter and a giggle. It reminds me how glum it was living with him. He was so negative and sucked the joy out of everything!

Now we are as silly as we like and giggle our heads off! I allow the kids to wrestle and be noisy, rather than be on tenterhooks that he’s all of sudden going to have reached his limit (very little!) “because it always ends in someone in tears” so to speak.

I’ve put clean sheets on the bed and they fell lovely and cool.

I have been sweltering too. I think I’m too hot but I do wonder if it’s not the menopause which so far has been kind to me.

Keep thinking that its saving us all from having to go abroad for these temperatures so saving a fortune. Having a paddling pool and ice creams can pretend away in some far flung land where its so hot day and night. Also that the winter gales, rains and storms will be here all too soon!

Plenty of liquids and finding breeze in shady spots as we have a lot more breeze here than much of continent I think being surrounded by seas

      Good things about summer holidays…well it’s my favorite season…so here it goes;
You can go swimming in lakes, rivers, sea, swimming-pool.
You can enjoy wearing summer dresses, get dressed in the morning in a split second and out of the door as fast because you don’t have to wear a jacket and scarfs and the whole lot
      You can eat ice-cream 🙂
You can enjoy the breeze in the shadows
Stay in and stay cool when you are tired with the ventilator on
      You can eat salads
I too just changed the bedsheets, it feels fresh and smells good
The sky is blue, blue, beautiful blue
You can read books and drink home made ice-tea with fresh lemon and a straw
Go to the swimming pool or seaside with your kids
Have the laundry dry outside, it smells so good afterwards and it drys so quickly, you can also wash things like curtains. Fresh house for the winter.
You don’t have to wear make-up because well it’s summer you look gorgeous in your own natural way
You can eat ice-cold water melon
Have water ballon fights with your kids
Have a bbq in the evening, invite friends over
Star gaze and moon gaze, learn some constellation and teach them to your kids
Listen to summer lounge or jazz or summer music very very loud and dance to it, sing to it
I stop here…I think I could go on.

Summer is half way through. The longest day of the year was back in June, the sun sets sooner few minutes every evening. Giving us longer cooler nights and shorter hot days.

      Which is your favorite season?

Ftc, I had to smile, it’s so sweet, of course you are allowed to have whichever preference you want to. Always. About everything. Not just seasons. Because you are free to choose. Like it said in your beautiful name.
I don’t know many people who like the hot summer, most prefer cooler months like you do.

      oh thanks thanks thanks Hopelifejoy
      for this lovely post.
I guess my babes is going aware of x weeks pretty soon and so I am conscious of this and
a few other bridges to cross, finishing college work for one. I know it will keep me busy
but you know what it is like when you are standing on one side of a bridge…
      all best
