I have spoken with my local domestic service regarding my situation with my ex who lives with me. The tenancy is in my name only. They mentioned to either contact my housing association and get them to write a letter addressed to him to move out (this is what I worry about his been in my property for years when he shouldn’t be living with me and this is mainly due to his domestic behaviour and control why his still here) or for me to write a letter my self and give to my ex. The lady I spoke to said to not give this to him at home but in a public place but his never home most time as he feels he can do what he wants after he comes home from work and goes out again.

As anyone recieved help from their housing instead of going through the non-molestation order?

      Hi Beauty,

Thank you for your post. I’m sorry to hear about your situation. Your safety is really important and I would be concerned about him recieving a letter- without you having more protection in place. If he isn’t on the tenancy then he shouldn’t have any legal rights to your property. I would suggest seeking more advice around housing law and the tenancy.

Shelter offer free and confidential housing information, support and legal advice on all housing and homelessness issues. They have a live chat service, and an emergency helpline available on 0808 800 44 44 (8am-8pm weekdays, 9am-5pm weekends).

      Best Wishes

      Lisa
