      Hi sweet4,

More often than not, unfortunately, abusers will escalate like this over time. The twin tactics of blaming mental health and promising to get help, like you’ve experienced, are used to make women feel obligated to stay, provide support, and give perpetrators a chance to change. I’m sorry that you’re having to share a living space with him. You deserve to be safe in your own home. If you feel like some ongoing support would be helpful, you could reach out to your local domestic abuse service for this. You could also use our Live Chat service to speak with a Women’s Aid worker and discuss your options.

      Take care and keep posting,
      Lisa
