I just wondered if anyone has been through this.

I initially contacted local service for support pre-pandemic and from what I know there was a mistake with my support worker leaving and keeping me supported by her replacement and so my support stopped.

Over the past year I had support, he left, he returned and support stopped. Her explanation was I had had six months or more and there was a time limit.

I felt upset and let down.

However, recently things have been ok.

But I see the problems are still there. Maybe different from before but definitely not right. I have posted often on here.

My question is, has anyone attempted support and had similar experiences?

How many times have you made contact?

The way it’s gone for me has left me feeling that there’s no point in reaching out.

I think there maybe tires for support and as I’m not in immediate danger I get less experienced supporter’s (not disrespect to them)

I was involved years ago for a different relationship and this was physically abusive too. The lady came with me to a solicitor and was very supportive.

I have depression and anxiety plus I’m a carer so I’m burnt out. I need to reach out and be helped rather than just fed information and phone numbers?

Please if you can share your experience it would be appreciated

      Hi Chocolatebunnie,

It’s totally understandable that you would feel upset and let down. You’re still experiencing abuse, as well as your mental ill-health and the pressures of being a carer, you do deserve to have support. It must be frustrating to hear that this service has a time limit when so often situations aren’t resolved within 6 months. Would it be worth getting in touch with them and asking for some clarity around their policy so that you can be more confident about reaching out again in future? Feedback about how this has made you feel would probably be really useful for them, if that’s something you feel you could do.

I know you’re really asking for other women’s experiences here, hopefully someone will be able to share with you soon.

      Take care and keep posting,
      Lisa

Lisa thank you for replying and a good idea to ask for the policy ins and outs for clarity. I think I’m not projecting my situation well as I have learnt from a young age to downplay abuse.

Having had conversations with family today I have been told by them to seek help.

      Kindest wishes

      Hi there,

I have same issues with limited counselling funding for domestic violence – most are limited. Some last longer than others – but it has to abruptly end due to funding constraints. Also getting similar issues with another service.

Seems to be a constant issue for yrs.
