Its been (detail removed by moderator) since he walked out expecting me to ask for him back. (Detail removed by moderator) of wonderful freedom, no one telling me how to dress, or using all my money, or sexually harrassing me, or emotionally abusing me, or making a huge deal out of me going out with friends, or accusing me of anything. I’ve been able to be free and safe in my own home for (detail removed by moderator) and it feels indescribable.

I recently found out that my ex has got some poor girl pregnant. It threw me a bit because everyone is congratulating him. His family and friends have no idea of what he did to me. Its really hard to accept that he gets to move on with life while I’m still picking up mine. I’m still struggling with new relationships with men and fear of men, but I will get through it. I have a new job and I’m healthier and happier. I regained contact with old friends and made some lovely new friends. Life is so different than just (detail removed by moderator) ago.

The truth is I dodged a bullet and I need to focus on that. I’m not religious but I am feeling very blessed today.

I hope all of you here reach freedom and happiness.

That’s wonderful to hear, good for you! It reminded me of the song I will survive. It’s always good to hear such good stories even if we might always be a work in progress because of what we went through. I went out with friends old and new for my birthday this year, for the first time since I was a teenager! And it felt so good but so strange for something that should be so normal.
