Isn’t it funny how you think once you get out of the nightmare that is your marriage, that everything will be magical and wonderful

I’m lying in bed reading and I am at risk of blowing the bulb in my lamp, I’ve switched it back on so may times where I keep thinking I can hear him coming upstairs or breathing next to me. Every noise, every shadow, I jump and turn the light on to check.

When will I ever be free of this living on the edge of my nerves?

Dear Malaya, I think your mind processes thoughts at different times after you split up. The longer you maintain No Contact or Grey Rock as the 2nd resort, the quicker your mind will clear. When the mind is clear of all of the confusing fog then it seems to process the relationship as a whole. I imagine this will take some time. I’m not that long out and still processing things every day. Good and bad things, it is like having a mind & emotion spring clean & declutter!!! You will probably experience dreams and nightmares, as with the thoughts these seem to reduce as the time goes on. X*X

Yes I found, and many others have reported the same, that there is the initial relief of freedom and then the PTSD symptoms kick in along with the realisation that you have actually done it, you’ve left. I found reading up about trauma and complex PTSD helped me understand what I was experiencing and why. I have used yoga for trauma, meditation and homeopathy plus specialist counselling. I have heard that EMDR can be really effective. It’s a slow process but be very kind and gentle with yourself and do whatever feels right for you at your own pace x*x

Hi ladies, thank you. I have got back into using herbs and oils and I’ve made up some remedies that help with the different things I’m experiencing right now. You’re right abou the dreams, they were really bad but are very few and far between now

I have read lots of DA stuff but not ptsd so I’ll do that. Hugs
