I’ve put together a safety plan with the help of DV officers and work. I am leaving everything behind except some clothes, treasured pieces, and the two dogs. I’m leaving the city to be away from it all but worried about my elderly parents. I’m not filing a report officially to the police because an arrest and interview will make everything 1000% times worse. They are going to have ‘harm markers’ on their properties. Has anyone done anything similar before, because now I’m getting into my head and I don’t want to stay after all this hard work I’ve put in. I’m not scared about starting again, I’ll have to start from scratch, house, furniture etc. I guess I just need people who have been in the same sort of situations to have around me to stay strong!

      Hi,

Thank you for your post. I’m sorry to hear about your situation. It takes a lot of courage to be taking this step but I understand this isn’t easy. You mentioned support from DV officers- do ensure you are getting that ongoing support from your local domestic abuse service as well.

You are doing all of the right things.

      Best Wishes

      Lisa
