Another call for members of the Survivor’s Participation Panel at Women’s Aid
Women’s Aid has received further funding from the Women’s Foundation and we are very happy to be able to invite more women to join the exciting advisory panel and to assist it as it moves towards operating as an independent group. Women from diverse social backgrounds and all walks of life welcome!
You can make a difference – Women’s Aid want to hear from you
As someone who has lived through domestic abuse you will have had a variety of experiences. We want to learn about the support you received in your journey out of an abusive relationship. This could have been from a specialist service, the police, social care, family and friends or other means. We want to hear about the positive support you received to ensure that it happens more often and also your negative experiences so that we can work together towards preventing them from being repeated.
The principal role of the survivor’s advisory panel is to ensure that survivor’s voices are heard and believed, and that this then influences policy and practice both locally and nationally.
How can you help?
We are looking to recruit around a further 10 women who have had support at least two years ago but no more than five years ago and who are willing to share their experiences to inform a survivors’ panel.
With insights from your experience we hope to improve professional responses to domestic abuse, improve access to justice, and build trust and confidence between services and the survivor community.
What you will get from volunteering
- You will be given the opportunity to make a real difference to the experiences of future survivors
- You will meet new people
- You will experience being part of an advisory panel
- You will also receive ongoing support to develop your confidence
