I called the police as OH hurt me and kids were in the house. They aren’t allowed back for a certain amount of time and in a way I feel great and we are better off without them here. I’ve been feeling bad as they’d not been physical really before just the other stuff but it all piled up so that was it. It’s only been (detail removed by Moderator) or so but I’m desperate to get back to work as it’s the only piece of me I feel I had left but due to my now limited flexibility I’ve been told I need to find more hours I’m available so they can find me something as I am unable to return to my current role but I can’t imagine working anywhere else. I was told I could work round their hours as they have at least (detail removed by Moderator) days off but that would involve leaving kids with them and even though police have said they have no concerns there I do and so does my family. Just don’t know what to do and feeling lost and don’t want to ramble but need advice on what to do

Hello, to be clear who is saying you need to work more hours?
Is the concern that you don’t want to leave kids with your ex-partner/partner? It’s so so hard isn’t it but unless there’s safeguarding concerns you’d be expected to let dad have alone time with the kids whether you were working or doing something else during that time. It’s weird to accept but the eyes of the law don’t see that because he hurt you, he’ll automatically hurt them. That said if you have safeguarding concerns then you can stop contact, but probably best to chat with social services, womansaid or a solicitor there.
If your family is also concerned but know you need to work can they help out? Depending on how much you earn, UC may help with upto 85% of childcare costs. If you want to stay with your current employer you can make a flexible working request – they have upto 3 months to consider it but can only decline for specific reasons.
I know it all feels a lot at this stage but one step at a time. Maybe have a chat with your local citizens advice about benefits, childcare etc. Hope this helps x

It was my manager said I needed to give more hours I was available. Managed to cover my original hours with family so start back this week. It’s all a bit of a rollercoaster at the minute.
