Hi All
I have been on here for a while now, i left my partner a few months ago. My mental health is slowly declining. Can anyone give me any advise as to how i approach my doctors, i am also frightened to go to my doctors as my ex partner is within that area.
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Is your ex at the same surgery/practice? If so, change your gp.
At the moment you may be more likely to have a telephone consultation – which makes things easier 😊 But if it’s not automatically offered, ask!
Tell them what you’ve just put in your post – that you’re struggling- and take it from there. My gp is quite good at waiting while I blub and then compose myself so he can understand what I’m saying! Hopefully yours will be too.😊And remember to take just one day/hour/minute/second (delete as appropriate!) at a time! Be easy on yourself, get support wherever you can find it and have a virtual hug from me🤗

1hotcoffee1, you’ve already taken a massive step saying you see your mental health declining, so you’ve already been braver than you think! Remember on the phone the receptionist doesn’t probably know you… Feel brave and go for it!

There are lots of helplines that you can talk anonymously about your mental health and the Samaritans are free To phone And great listeners. I used them in the early days x some charities also provide free specialist counselling. I found a great local one for domestic abuse so use the Internet too. Build a wide support network. Yoga and mindfulness are also good to practice. Don’t take on any new tasks if you can avoid it. Write down three positive things every day.

Thank you to all of you. I started back at the gym today, so that’s helped, I’ll try this for a bit and see if there is an improvement, if not I shall just have to put my brave pants on and call the doctors.
Thank you all for you helpful words, it’s nice to hear right now xx

Yep, brave pants are a life saver – I love mine 😊 It may still help to talk to someone – maybe victim support can put you in touch with a service close to you?
