Hi all. I am new to the forum and just wanted to say how fantastic Women’s Aid have been since I was referred to them by my doctor. I am currently i an abusive relationship with my husband but I plan on leaving. Over the years he has been controlling and also got to the stage of taking my bank card off me & offering me ‘pocket money’ as well as other things. Things have now taken a turn & i discovered that on (day removed by moderator) evening he helped himself to sex while I was asleep. He claims I was awake to begin with & consented to it & “there was no way he was stopping” just because I fell asleep, I have no memory of this. I woke up (date removed by moderator)morning with bruises all down my one arm aswell, he denies he caused them. Thanks to womens aid I am currently taking the steps needed to leave the relationship. I deserve to be treated with the love & respect I deserve & I can now see how wrong his behaviour is. Had I not been referred by my doctor I wouldn’t of know about womens aid or how bad my relationship was, so for that I am extremely grateful.

        Hi Bambi,

Welcome to the forum! I am so pleased to see that you have had some supportive replies and that you are getting help from your local Women’s Aid group thanks to your really good doctor. Although you have clearly been through so much sound like an incredibly strong lady. Please do be careful as we know that leaving an abusive relationship can be a very dangerous time but hopefully your local Women’s Aid group has started to do some safety planning with you.

We are all here for you and please know that you can phone the helpline any time.

        Best wishes,

        Lisa
