Im starting to think going to a refuge will be my only way out.
But im super scared of how much I will have to give up if I decided to do this.

Id anyone able to shed some light on:
-What its like to live in a refuge
-How long you can stay / have to stay (Can you leave if you dont like it / find somewhere private to live)
-How much does it cost to live there?
-Can I still work whilst living there?

      Thankyou

      Hello Butterfly-A,

I just wanted to acknowledge your post and the fears and concerns you might be having around the possibility of refuge.

I’m sure other users will be able to offer some support and advice, and share their experiences of refuge soon.

In the meantime I just wanted to mention that many refuges are run independently so their procedures and policies vary. The cost of refuge varies based on location but can often be funded by housing benefit if eligible. There is no set timeframe for staying in a refuge, you can leave whenever you are ready.

There is an FAQ’s page about refuge in the Survivors Handbook: https://www.womensaid.org.uk/information-support/the-survivors-handbook/i-want-to-leave-my-relationship-safely/

      Take care and keep posting,
      Lisa
