Is it still abuse if it took years to develop? If it took over a decade for example?

Is it still abuse if he apologises when you gave a breakdown about it and then swears to change.

Not much has changed but its like slightly better….

If it never gets that bad again is it still abuse? Can I really forgive him and forget the abuse that happened??? It was always cruel words, never physical

      Hi,

Thank you for your post. I’m sorry to hear about your situation. Domestic abuse is not just physcial- it includes emotional, financial, sexual abuse and controlling behaviour. Abusive men often make promises of change but then the abusive cycle continues.

Domestic abuse can start with subtle put downs, small violations of your boundaries which build up over time. Any form of abuse is unacceptable. You deserve to be treated with love and respect.

      Best Wishes

      Lisa
