Hello wheredoibegin,
Please do find a safe time to phone the helpline. They can help advice you and put you in touch with some local support to guide you through the process of child contact. Please have a look at Rights of Women’s website on http://www.row.org.uk as they have some good advice and times that you can call them. Your local Women’s Aid group will also be able to help you, you can get their contact details from the helpline or you can find them here on the Women’s Aid website under the ‘Find help locally’ section. The NSPCC also have some good advice.
Sadly we know that abusive men often use child contact as a way to continue their abuse and any professional with experience of domestic abuse will know that. Until you have a contact order you could think about not allowing him to have contact with the children. You could say that you feel afraid and you could speak to the Police on 101 and Social Services to log your fears.
Best wishes,
Lisa
