      Started to read about ptsd

Wondering if there was anything or anywhere I can get some kind of education or counselling from ?

Yes, if you Google ‘NHS Talking Therapies’ there will be a link to your local NHS counselling service.

There are no miracle cures I’m afraid but a combination of time, repeated counselling, you tube and self help books are ways to lessen the impact on your daily life.

Sadly, again, no quick fix, talking therapies, counselling, patience, kindness towards your self, time, doing little things that make you happy – all help.

I am trying – EMDR – it is challenging, and taking time, but I am learning to feel safe with my counselor, exploring the trauma, unpicking it and taking things at my pace, finding new depths is challenging, but it is slowly, slowly begining to work.

It is a journey, taken step by step, and it is doable.

Good luck, it is worth the time and effort, to re find and love the person you are/were, before the abuser did the damage.

      Sending healing hugs xx

As well as counselling and medication I’ve been doing some body work too, hoping that this will contribute to my wellbeing.
Things like gentle cycling and swimming, yoga and tai chi, are hopefully ways of soothing my body and mind that have been through so much.
Even something as simple as painting my nails or applying eyeshadow is a treat for my body, something that was criticised by my abuser for so many years.
