Hi everyone , most of you on here will know my history .. currently we are not talking and I am sure he is seething underneath , I have done nothing wrong , only brought up the fact that he needs to look at himself and his behaviour which he completley denies .
As I go along this journey , between this forum and speaking to a woman’s aid advisor , I now know it’s abuse .. still probably in realisation face , with going back and forth in my mind about the good and bad of him .
I today have seen a councillor specialising in domestic abuse ( my first session ) it was mainly me talking , with herself putting in put in every now and then .
I feel after only one session my anxiety is better , as yet another person has confirmed the abuse to me .. my aim is to gain perspective and strength through these sessions as she recognised that part of me is feeling I can’t believe it’s actually happening to me .. like surreal ..
I highly recommend to anyone who is in my situation to try this as I walked away from my first session feeling a lot more empowered ladies .. got a way to go yet but it’s a start ..
Just to add on .. when I have tried to talk to my husband he won’t talk , this is a very cruel act to stonewall you on a basic need and my respect is currently zero for him x -

Hi Buddy,
I’m so glad to hear that you have been able to access specialist counselling and that it has been helpful for you.
It can feel wonderful to speak to someone who understands without feeling judged or blamed, and to be given the space to explore and discuss our experiences in order to process things and begin to find freedom.
I hope it continues to be a rewarding process for you.
Take care,
Lisa -

Hi Unlucky2
Welcome to the forum! You can find your local domestic abuse service here: https://www.womensaid.org.uk/domestic-abuse-directory/ You can then contact them and ask about counselling. You can also ask your GP to refer you for counselling.
Take care and please keep posting!

@buddy this is great and really good that it was so helpful. Have you tried any books or audible things too. Why does he do that? And also Healing from Hidden Abuse both really helpful. Have you seen the Book List thread? Loads of suggestions.
I agree, the silent treatment is so demeaning, you’re right, it’s a basic human right to be acknowledged and heard.
I went through the surreal stage too. And came out the other side. And then left. Well done, you’re doing really well, gaining insight and knowledge and support. This is all going to help you. X*x.
