ParticipantDoes anyone have experience if things go as far as the CPS (who decide to charge or not / no further action ? ) It can take the CPS a long time (months) I think which feels daunting – the whole thing is very draining and preoccupying, and charge rates are very low.

ParticipantIt’s really hard when you first report to the police, all the not knowing. I seems like forever until you hear anything. My ex was in such a rage I asked them not to speak to him and I was terrified of what he would do next.
They NFA’d him which is what I’d thought they might. In a way it is a relief not to have to go through the criminal justice process and even then the perpetrator can be found innocent. This is not because it hasn’t happened, it is because there could be a shadow of doubt.
However, the police told me that it was really important to report. The wheels of change move slowly. It is important to be believed and it’s not before time that the police take domestic abuse seriously.

ParticipantWhatever happens it should be in your interest. Although my ex was NFA’d, the police persuaded him to move out of the family home. Since then he has been advised not to speak to me. (court detail removed by moderator). He has not gone to hell in a handcart yet. (detail removed by moderator). I know emphatically that he lied to get me arrested. At the moment I am doubting myself. He lied (detail removed by moderator).
It’s horrible. It’s difficult. Please accept all the real life help available.
