ParticipantI have decided that I need something to look forward to after court case. I am wanting to go on holiday with my child, something I have not been able to for a long time, I am going to find the confidence to do it- we have been through so much that we need a bit of us time. Question is do I have to get fathers permission? Obviously he wouldn’t grant it. Bearing in mind he is not allowed contact and I have an indefinite restraining order. Do you think if I take the paperwork that says this with me I will be ok? Has anyone any experience of this? I don’t want him to even know as knowing him he will turn up as he is still pestering people as he is trying to find us.

ParticipantHi hon,
Google “Get permission to take a child abroad” and look at the gov.uk site.
Does he have parental reaponsibility? It looks like if he does, you could apply to the court.

ParticipantHe does, but I have enough things going through the courts, I do have a court hearing before I go away, so perhaps I can ask the Judge. It’s so wrong that I have to ask permission from an abusive father- again it’s giving them the control.

BlockedI don’t think you need permission lovely, not if it is in the U.K.
Sounds like though you might be wanting to go abroad for a break which is understandable.I’ve looked into passports for kids and there is something about needing to tell them when
you apply for a passport if they have parental responsibility or submitting a court document. But there are great places to go in the U.K> aren’t there? Especially as the weather is going to
be good till the end of August…before school starts again.good luck

ParticipantIf you want to go abroad then unfortunately you either need permission from him or from the court. If you already have a child arrangements order (also known as residency order) you may want to double check it as a lot of them have a standard clause that say the resident parent can take a child abroad for up to 28 days without permission of the non-resident parent. If not then when going through court make sure you mention you would like this added. Good luck! x
