Hi, I have received a call today to say there is a place on a domestic violence course that starts soon. I was just wondering if any of you ladies have been on one and what exactly you do! I feel nervous as I dont really know what to expect. I’m quite a quiet person who hates talking in front of a lot of ppl! Any advise would be great. Xx

If it’s the freedom programme from women’s aid you can look online. That might give you an idea of the sort of things they discuss x

Hi, I don’t know about the course you mentioned, but the group I’m joining next week the lady from women’s aid said I wouldn’t have to talk about myself if I didn’t want to. I’m a shy person too. It’s different on here, we’re all anonymous. Face to face I find it very hard to talk about myself and my situation. Good luck. I hope you find it helpful- your course I mean 😊

I’m doing the Freedom Programme and it’s brilliant. It helps to shift the ground from victim to survivor as well as teaching you the different kinds of abuse and how to recognise it. I like being in a group of women who understand.

Aw thank you for your advise ladies. I haven’t really been given much info about it. My family support worker just asked if I’d be interested in attending a course for victims of domestic violence so I thought surely it can only be a positive thing. None of my friends or family have been in a similar situation (that I know of) so it will be nice to be not so much the odd one out! X

If it’s the Freedom Programme I can only recommend it.
You do not need to say anything.
You can also speak to the facilitators in private.
The course will help you lots and you will like it.
