I know it’s been mentioned before, but I wanted to put a reminder out there!

So apparently from 4th May you will need to take photo id to vote. Whilst looking at the page it gave details for anonymous electors document (meaning that your name will not be on the electoral register, but you’ll still be able to vote).
Here’s a link to the info:

      Hope this helps!

I’m already registered anonymously but did the application before I needed a photo. Any idea what will happen now please?

Registering anonymously was a difficult process for me. I never reported so I was reliant on my GP to sign the form. After much to-ing and fro-ing they finally understood that they weren’t signing their life away and signed the form.

The relative that I live with was acreal stumbling block. It took 8 months and a lot of pleading for his GP to sign and even then, he signed with a disclaimer.

I can’t go through all of that again.

      There’s guidance on this page….
      https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/register-vote/register-vote-anonymously

      Particularly guidance for Women’s Aid.
From what I’ve read, the registration is valid for 12 months, so it looks like you’ll have to get a new one 😞
Although it does give guidance on who can sign the attestation- and it doesn’t have to be your GP. If you’ve had involvement with any other agency, they should be able to sign.
Or, and this depends very much on how good your local authority is, speak to the electoral services office, explaining your circumstances. They may renew without the faff?!?

More advice on this would be helpful – and to ensure all services are aware and guiding women. I’m mindful that those currently in the system will be advised correctly but what if it’s historic and risk remains??
