Feeling very guilty for my kids

I had to end the relationship when I think of it towards the end he was abusing me more I’ve got my life on track to an extent but now feel so guilty for my elder child he has essentially took my ex partners place of raising the kids I’ve gone to work as can’t see myself on benefits and done everything I can but I’m realising I can’t do this alone I literally have no one just my kids and if I want to work I’ve got no one to care for them I can’t even afford to put them in with a childminder cause of their age ranges and the costs.the school dosent have any childminding service and when they do it’s not enough I’m feeling trapped again .it’s almost impossible to get school hours working or around my daughter nursery

Hi, I know this is a tough situation. You made the right decision for you and for your children and unfortunately that means that your elder child needs to help you out. I know it doesn’t feel right – as parents we want to do whatever we can to support our children. I’m sure that your son appreciates that you are doing the best you can for him and your other children. The school holidays are always a lot harder too and the cost of childcare is ridiculous. Can you get some sort of universal credit to top up your wages to help with childcare? I’m sure that that children are happier in a home without abuse even if that means that you have to go out and work and they have to learn to be a bit more independent. You are setting them a great example. x
