I recently left my partner of over (detail removed by Moderator) years. He emotionally abused me daily and every now and then physically. He controlled me and isolated me.Not too long after getting with him, I started having terrible back aches.First the top of my back, shoulder pains etc. Then severe lower back pain but the pain also shoots in my legs and arms.I had so many test and endless rounds of physio but it never goes away.Even the strongest pain killers won’t help.I even had a scan and everything looks fine.I am also so tired all the time although I go to bed early but I’m a very light sleeper.I did a lot of research and I found out that long term emotional abuse is connected to fibromyalgia.Has anyone experienced this or can anyone relate to this.I’ve not been separated for long enough to see a change yet.

      Hi my beautiful angel …Neueranfang
This sounds like trapped emotions that you have burried deep inside you when you haven’t been able to express them and now they are manifesting physically.
Have you tried some gentle movement, just going with what your body tells you to release, maybe keeping your eyes closed so you can really tune into your body?
I would highly recommend you reading or listening to if you have the means…
Louise Hay … You can heal your life.
In this she talks about how emotions manifest in the body as physical pain.
Sending you love and support xx

      I feel your pain !!!
I have Fibromyalgia, and it was caused by my relationship, before I met him I was a happy healthy young woman. I started with Fibromyalgia many years ago after a particularity hard time with him, along with relentless stress, upset and anquish, mentally, physically, sexually, financially, along with a complete lack of understanding and support.
Please look after Yourself, its a horrible condition that totally changes lives, try to get time to exercise(when you have the energy!!) it helps, and find time, even on the loo to take a deep breath.
I do hope its not fibro, if it is take time to find a good GP to support you.
      Well done for your bravery.
      take care xx

Yep been there got the illness and more. It was like he was a giant evil weight pressing on my neck and my spine and my nerves. I was in such high levels of tension for years, I continually felt as if something bad was about to happen. Now I do yoga and lately………Bellydancing! It’s amazing. I got a dvd on Amazon but there are online live classes also. It really helps you to value your body, rediscover very gently your physicality and sensuality, and it gives a very gentle body work out. I feel pain free today and light as a feather.

Hi there, our bodies tend to hold the trauma within us and there is an amazing book called ‘The Body Keeps The Score’by Bessel Van de Kolk. This book also explains how things like yoga can contribute to the healing of trauma. A very insightful read and really helps to understand how trauma affects us.
