Freedom Day anniversary

Today is my (detail removed by moderator) Freedom Day anniversary. I’m celebrating with a glass of bubbly.
I never thought I’d get here. I never thought I’d ever be able to leave. I was resigned to a life of just existing. Getting through each day as best I could. Sacrificing my happiness to keep a home and my family together.

But one day it was enough. I left. It was the hardest thing I’ve done. Very dark days followed. I wanted to go back, but each time I wavered, he reminded why I left.

For anyone who is struggling, it is possible. And life can be big and bold and free. I actually like me again!! No, I b****y love the new me!

I’ve been struggling a lot at the moment with accepting everything. I’m out, but still working through the trauma. So glad to read this and know it gets easier. Lots of love to you xx

Congratulations and well done. I’m newly out. But its all very raw yet and different to what I thought. Just taking it one day at a time. But I got to stage where I knew I just couldn’t do it anymore, I wouldn’t survive it. So now just to find strength in each day to keep moving forward. So hard when it’s not just me to think of.
Well done again, thanks for the hope and enjoy the bubbly.
It’s amazing how helpful posts on here can be even I really needed. What a great community, in such a difficult place x*x
