Hi all
I need some advice, I broke free from the abuser (detail removed by Moderator) years ago. My 3 children though have maintained contact with him. He has continued to abuse and they have reached breaking point themselves and want to stop contact.
We have a (detail removed by Moderator) and this was reduced a few years ago mutually with the help of agencies empowering me and the children to do so.
So my feeling is I don’t need to involve the courts (of course he can take me to court).
But if the children state they don’t want to go and I inform him this…its up to him to start legal proceedings. I’m keeping them safe. The issues I have are how to inform him and how to keep us all safe. The children agree to change passwords, block and delete his number and we will put cctv up. But how do I keep them safe at school, in their parttime jobs and anywhere else they may go?
I did contact nspcc and they have made referrals to police and social services so awaiting to hear… -

Hi,
Thank you for your post. I’m sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds like you are doing all of the right things and you mentioned you have contacted the NSPCC. If they are at school you could speak to the school about your concerns to see if there is anything they can put in place for them. If they are over a certain age they can make their own decisions about contact and how much they want their father in their lives, – but I would suggest getting this confirmed legally and more detailed advice on your next steps.
The Coram Children’s Legal Centre provide free legal resources with advice and information on all aspects of family, child and education law, including relationship breakdown; parental disputes, duties of children’s services; child protection. They can be contacted on 0300 330 5480 (10am-4pm, Mon-Fri) and through their webchat service (8:30am-5:30pm Mon-Fri).
Best Wishes
Lisa
