Been together (timeframe removed by Moderator) years, he doesn’t work due to (medical condition removed by Moderator). I work full time, my (age removed by Moderator) year old son lives with us, works partime and full time education. He has 2 girls from previous relationship younger than mine.

I pay for almost everything, I am not allowed to spend money on my son as he works so has to buy his own clothes, pay for driving lessons himself.

He is an angry man, my son can’t spend too long on the bathroom or he threatens he will only be allowed to use the outside toilet

He criticises me everyday, snaps at me has shouted at me and called me names in front of his kids.

He once threatened to stab me in the face in front of one of his kids during an argument I caused.

Sometimes I think it’s me. Sometimes I’m not sure

I’m no expert on this, but what you have described certainly does sound abusive to me.
Not only is his behaviour derogatory towards you, it’s bringing you down in front of your kids.
Beyond that, but he has threatened you with extreme violence. That is not okay. I definitely think you should reach out to your local DA service about this to help you figure out how to cope with your situation and how to keep yourself and your family safe.
You deserve better than this. Say strong and know you are not alone. Wishing you all the best. X
