      Hey

Just hoping for some advice. I’m in the process of getting to a stage that I can finally end it and hopefully get him to leave. It will happen one day, I have hope again that it will.

In the meantime, as has always been, many of the house bills are paid out of the joint account.
I’m not sure has he forgotten to lodge his share or just waiting for me to ask for it. A friend advised that I say it without actually asking “please can you transfer the money”, to say something like “oh what’s the story, did payment go into the wrong account” or something similar.
I pay for everything from food, to childcare to kids expenses. This account is really house expenses.

      Any advice would be appreciated?

      Thank you all

      x*x

If he was wanting to contribute to this joint account in a serious and reliable way then he would set up a standing order from his own account in to the joint account on a monthly basis. That is very easy to set up and takes care of regular payments automatically. That would stop you from having to ask for it or chase it up.

Suggest he sets this up. He can always stop it at any time and it does not give you absolute security he will pay, but if he isn’t willing to do this then it suggests he may not wish to contribute financially within your relationship willingly.

Sounds like he’s using the finances as a method of control, he wants you to ask and then probably rant or make out he’s the saviour. I’d agree ask him to set up a standing order but be prepared for him to find some random reason to cancel it in the future. Good luck
