      Hello,

Unsure whom else to ask, I have idea of what happens, and how to handle leaving.

Other than how difficult will be to go in a potential short let in a new unknown city to try and start over, with knowing no-one, having no support.

Anyone knows what happens with private renting? We got a joint tenancy that got a 2 month notice break clause, but unsure if one only have the right to break it n give notice.

Also, all bills are in my name, some paid monthly, some via direct debit, is there a way I can transfer them to him without him knowing or is there anything to work around that?

I know it sound horrible but I wont be able to afford paying double bills and rent.

Unfortunately I cannot go to a refuge so if anyone knows anything on emergency accommodation and process for council housing for victims of domestic abuse.

Or any info on the financial logistics I would really appreciate it.

Ok so your utility bills if they are in your name you transfer them to your new address. Then its up to him to sign up to his own contracts. They aren’t tied to that address they’re tied to you. You might have a transfer fee you might not. Dont forget driving license notification if you have one and car V5 if you have.

You can’t transfer them to him.

Same with council tax and electoral register. Its up to him to sort himself out. Dont go on the public register though.

Private renting.  Speak to your landlord. Explain the situation.  It will vary from place to place. Who knows he may even know of a suitable property for you. But do explain the abuse and the need for confidentiality.

In my city I went through DA hubat the council. Temp accommodation was a hotel room for however long it took.

They put me on a priority list and I was allowed to bid on council properties applicable to my needs.

I also applied to every housing association I could. I got lucky and got one of those.

Financial stuff would depend on wages or benefits, how much you earn etc. Its very individual. I am not high income but too high for benefits. I believe the hotel room was covered cost wise but food and extras were on me.

Thank you so much for this, it makes sense.

Sorry it all sound so obvious but when changed cities a few years ago I had to close some n transfer some accounts, for some reason all my worry blurs my thinking.

One safe place I called today said they could take me in but due to my (not high) savings I d have to pay about 1.5k pcm per month on rent plus bills.

Does it then all vary from council to council? About the council properties,  how does this work?

      Thank you so much again
