Someone that I know, keeps saying to me that because my ex partner didn’t hit me it’s not abuse..

I feel very trigger by this and it makes me quite angry.
no abuse on any level is right! Mental and emotional abuse is just as bad as physical. Why can’t people understand that..?!

      Hi TheLioness789,

It is understandable you feel triggered and angry by this- unfortunately not everyone understands about domestic abuse. Thank you for sharing with us, I hope it has helped to post.

      Take care and keep posting,

      Lisa

      That’s so hurtful Lioness.

I’ve given up on telling anyone about the abuse as the reactions can be so unhelpful. I remember when I did risk telling an ex colleague (specific role removed by Moderator). Her reply was “It wasn’t THAT abusive”. This was before I told her anything of what went on. Needless to say, I told her no more….

Take care and don’t let the idiots get to you !

I feel in the same boat. Sorry you are feeling like this. I told my mum I was experienced domestic abuse and she said ‘he’s not hitting you is he?’
the mental torchure of fighting so hard to save my marriage for (timeframe removed by Moderator) years has finally become too much, my body can’t take it anymore. He’s showing us true colours slowing and I havnt even officially left the family home yet- proving I’ve made the correct decision
