I’m having yet another bad day. It didn’t start off bad, I went for a walk completely alone for the first time since leaving abuse and a publisher sent me a book to review. But then I noticed my upstairs neighbour has drilled a hole in my living room ceiling. Might seem like an overreaction but my neighbour has made my life a living hell since the day I moved in and my housing association are refusing to do anything about it because of my neighbours ‘needs’. Her behaviour is violent, I honestly thought when I first moved in that I was listening to her abuse someone and called the police. Her behaviour regularly triggers my PTSD and causes flashbacks. I had 4 police officers at my property (2 and my front door and 2 at my bedroom window) looking for the man who lives with her recently because they’d got the address wrong and it was so frightening. I’d never heard this man’s name before and the police questioned me for ages.

My housing association have told me that if I can’t cope with her behaviour I either need to go back to my abuser or move to a different property. I am trying to move to a different property, one where I used to live with all my friends and family are, but they are making this impossible. I had an awful idva who forced me to move to this area when I have no connections to it and have never been here before. I’ve written to my MP, tried to get back on the housing register, and I’m not getting anywhere. A housing charity have been supporting me and the last option now is to write to the housing ombudsman. My GP, community mental health team, and social services have all given evidence to how my living situation is making my mental health worse and yet my housing association will not do anything to help.

This just feels like a battle I am never going to win so what’s the point?
