Hi all i am new to the forum i have left my ex partner on (detail removed by Moderator) he is a n********t.I own half of the house but he is refusing to sell it or buy me out he has been vile to me i am (detail removed by Moderator) yrs old and my son and daughter support me 100% as they too have been treated like dirt by him.I went home (detail removed by Moderator) as he was at work and the house smells like a dirty bin, he has trashed my room and stollen some of my belongings. The day i left he was spitting on me so i reported it to the police and they arrested him but he denied doing it (course he did) so they could not charge him.I am feeling better having left but times like this when he trashes my things makes me sick to the stomach what is he achieving by doing this i don’t understand.

I can’t even speak to mine about the house, its joint owned but he won’t see it that way so I have found a solicitor, I am currently in limbo as for safety we agreed to leave it till the new year when the courts will be open to deal with things if he escalates.

Remember they are just things, I know it hurts but you are the most important thing in all of this. He is trying to assert his dominance and control – we can’t understand as we don’t think in the same way.

      stay safe x

i am your age. i was with the covert type decades. i also owned half the property. took years to sort it all out due to how much my ex wanted to continue controlling the situation -ignored letters, refused to co-operate etc
but because my local da service recommended a solicitor experienced in domestic abuse i was successful. because once your abuser appreciates that although they can control you – they absolutely cannot control your solicitor, especially one who knows how these particular characters work
i know his behaviour must be upsetting but it is just a way to continue hurting you, & hopefully certain things can be replaced in the future
if you havent already, do you think you could get in touch with your local da service for some support, & then hopefully be given recommendations on who to contact for all the legal issues
it sounds as if no matter what is happening right now that you are all so much safer away from your partner x
