I’m new here. I left my husband (detail removed by moderator). (detail removed by moderator) and still struggling. I still have to have contact as we have a (detail removed by moderator) daughter together. I feel so alone

Welcome. Well Done on leaving your ex. That’s a big step.

I have recently left my abusive ex and it’s not easy. I have found that reading books by Don Hennessy and Lundy Bancroft have helped me a lot. I just listened to a Steps to Freedom podcast which was very good.

I’ve signed up to do the Freedom program as I feel like I need more support. I’m also going to see someone from Women’s Aid next week to talk. Not a single soul knows about the abuse so I want to share a little.

Good luck and keep posting. I’m older than you and we can thrive.

Welcome and massive well done for leaving.

Be kind to yourself because you don’t know yourself yet. Not sure how long since you left but gosh I tell this story often but I remember standing in my house feeling completely lost, who was I, what clothes should I wear, what on earth do I like watching on tv or want to eat. He’d affected every area of my life. Slowly but surely I started to find myself and it takes a long time with many good & bad days. Seeing my ex for child contact was triggering, in both happy and sad ways. And yea some days are lonely and other days you’ll find yourself smiling as you’re doing the washing realising how far you’ve come. We’re all here for you x
