Hi I left my abusive ex several years ago. Not so long ago i accidentally saw him in a shop with his gf. Not bothered about her at all but being in the same physical space as him made me physically sick , I started crying and it took me several days to recover. I hid in another aisle. I was so shocked at my reaction and disappointed in myself . Then I get more upset what will happen when my kids get married . I don’t know why I felt this why but it was my natural reaction .how do I recover ? Will I ever recover

      Hi Thistle06,

Thank you for your post. I’m sorry to hear about your situation. That must have been really triggering for you. be kind to yourself- you have been through a trauma and its understandable you reacted in that way. This was your abusive ex but this person was also a threat to you- it can be your brains way of trying to protect you.
