My partner left me while I was out I came back to an empty house. He’s now sending me messages saying how much he regrets his decision and that he has nothing left in his life so he might as well end it.

I refuse to let him back.

Stay strong, many of us here have had exactly this! It’s to trigger your caring nature and let them back in. If you think he’ll do something or just to ease your worry you can contact the police for welfare checks, otherwise he’s an adult and can seek help himself. You need to look after yourself right now xx

Hi, I’ve been there so many times and ended up getting the police and crisis team involved on more than one occasion. As bananaboat says, it’s their way of gaining your sympathy so you will forgive him and take him back. There is a lot of advice online about not feeling guilty when they threathen this, this is your life and you need to keep strong. Sending lots of love xx

I can relate to this my partner has said the same and I 95% think it’s to make me feel sorry for him but it’s very triggering to me as my kid’s dad did take his life so it’s hard I can’t go through that again. I’ve told my partner to seek help but he says there’s nothing wrong

My ex threatened that (detail removed by Moderator)x, (detail removed by Moderator) time I went above and beyond with providing support and fully understanding what crisis teams were asking of him… and even then, he walked away from help. That’s because it wasn’t real. Today, he’s alive and well, living elsewhere.
