Honestly so much has happened, I dont even no where to begin, we have toxic abusive relationship with an (detail removed by Moderator) old and (detail removed by Moderator) old, we have a joint tenancy, I have always paid the household bills even though he earns more than I do, I provide for the kids, and also pay my (detail removed by Moderator) olds nursery fees, he is supposed to give me money for the shopping but hasn’t for the last (detail removed by Moderator) weeks, which leaves me in a vulnerable situation, he received (detail removed by Moderator) in wages this money and I received (detail removed by Moderator) after paying my child’s nursery fees, and I received nothing from u.c, our rent this month has not been paid, because he hasn’t given me the money, he drinks and gets drunk every morning after work, he buys weed and that’s where all his money goes, not one penny on the kids, I wish I could just kick the low life out unfortunately it is not as easy as that, is anybody else in a similar situation?.

      Hi,

Thank you for your post. I’m sorry to hear about your situation. That must be exhausting to deal with- you should feel supported by your partner and not left feeling vulnerable in this way. Financial abuse is an aspect of coercive control and can leave you feeling trapped.

The Financial Support Line for Victims of Domestic Abuse is a service specialising in the financial side of domestic abuse. Anyone who has experienced domestic abuse can call for one-off advice regarding debts, benefits and budgeting from the Financial Support Line, or self-refer for ongoing casework on 0808 196 8845 (Mon-Fri 9am- 5pm).

      Best Wishes

      Lisa
