I have suspicions that my OH has been listening in on conversations I’ve had when out with friends. I’m suspicious because occasionally, the day after I’ve been out, his behaviour has changed dramatically in a way that is very specific to something my friend and I have discussed. I trust this friend completely, I know she wouldn’t have said anything.

Is it technically possible for him to be listening in somehow, maybe using my phone? It’s only happened 3 times, so am I just being paranoid?

I think there is a real lack of information like you are asking for. It would be good to have this, and it would also be good for your situation ifyou report this to the police.

stalking is something i raised in another post, and is a dangerous marker for the type of perpetrator you have, so do everything you can to keep safe.

Maybe leave your phone at home and just rely on using your good friends if you had to? He might have something to say about you leaving your phone behind if he has downloaded an app on it that can use the mic to listen to you. Its certainly possible, as is using a phone/computer’s camera to watch.

I agree leave phone at home or in the car maybe just deep in your bag wrapped in something like a scarf and leave bag slightly away from you.
I’m sure there are ways and means of tapping into phones but is your abuser capable of that? Could it be a “friend” reporting back? We used to trust our abusers. Can you trust the friend?
      Keep safe xx

hi, i do not know the details but the abuser i was with was very tech savvy to the point of tracking me and he was obsessed with cameras, recording and always worried he was being spied on – i completely believe that it is possible for these people to use technology to listen to you so like others said – if you can, leave your phone at home. Or if you cannot, then maybe try switching it off. I think with regular people this would be rather unlikely, but with them, i would put nothing past them. Perhaps police can help and then have a unit or a specialist that could run some check and see if they is any spying software on your phone.
