I always thought the hardest and bravest thing would be saying I’m done I can’t do this but it seems the fight gets harder just trying to get a place to live to be safe I can’t believe how hard it is to be able to get somewhere it scares me as I haven’t yet been strong enough to say it’s over and I’m worried That when I’ve done that I then wont be able to get housing for me and my older children. I only work part time I have debts so my credit is awful. It seems a never ending circle.

      Hello Newgirl,

I just wanted to offer some support here and suggest a couple of resources for advice around your housing rights and options.

Rights of Women have a really useful guide on their website regarding domestic abuse and homelessness, you can read and download it here.

Shelter are a housing rights and homelessness charity, who have a helpline and lots of helpful information on their website also. https://www.shelter.org.uk/

It might be useful to discover what your options are so you can develop a safety plan and next steps. Your local domestic abuse support service may also be able to help with this. You can find your nearest service here.

      Take care and keep posting,
      Lisa
