ParticipantI am so upset!!!
So my ex partner (detail removed by Moderator) However I am not fooled it must has suited him better to do that. I’m sure he has a make believe version of how him hitting me occurred…one that puts me at fault!
Anyway I made it clear from the very beginning of this process to anyone willing to listen I wasn’t even looking to get him in to trouble, I wasn’t stopping him seeing the kids. I just wanted him to leave me alone! I was after a injunction or something of sorts.
I went to the police…as advised and they was amazing he was arrested and charged. They asked me what outcome I want and I said again just for him to not come near me or my home.
(detail removed by Moderator)
Well so far I have to say I feel like I have been penalised for coming forward and standing up to him.
He hasn’t lost parental responsibility or even access to our children however social services have been round to assess my capabilities as a mother, questioning if my children are safe with me!
Even though I have provided sufficient evidence to prove he is working CMS has informed me if they don’t obtain a ‘confident’ address for him they won’t be able to get maintenance from him…so basically he gets off Scott free on that feont as well.
Every tom, d**k and Harry knows my story, I have to deal with the humiliation of everyone knowing my kids are being assessed by SS.
(detail removed by Moderator) (even more reason for him not to want to provide for his children) but my safety is of no importance!!!
So I’m expected to keep my children safe how? How can I protect my children if I am not protected!!
Now I have to apply for a non molestation order…which requires a fee…money I don’t have but without one I have not protection. Without one I’m not seen as being protective enough towards my children!! And that is that!!
This is why women like me don’t come forward. This is why I never came forward before because unless you are high risk you aren’t important!! -

ParticipantSame thing happened to me. It’s shocking and I too only wanted him kept away from me and I too was denied a restraining order (detail removed by Moderator). And yes, it all kicked off again not long after so please get your non mol. It might be free if there is domestic abuse involved. Not sure. If you qualify for legal aid it might be worth going down that route. Ring Rights for Women, they offer free legal advice.

ParticipantSo sorry to hear about your difficulties, as if we don’t have enough problems!
Just a thought you could also try Citizens advice bureau for advice, my local women’s aid group have a legal advice drop in session, yours might too. Also I noticed that the lawyer dealing with my divorce have a free drop in session on a Monday with 30 minute slots. I was told as long as I had no more than £3,000 in savings and am low income I’m entitled to legal aid for the divorce part, although I have to pay the fee for the settlement of joint assets etc. So I assume it would probably be the same for the petition fee. Women’s aid might be able to help with advice or point you in the right direction. Good luck
