Hope this is allowed. This poem really ‘spoke’ to me. Took me a while to find who wrote it but didn’t want to post without acknowledging the poet.

“Hold on, hold on, hold on,” they said,
“You’re a dandelion in the breeze,
look what the winds of change have done to all
      these autumn leaves.”

“Hold on, hold on, hold on,
This big wide world is not for you,
      Hold on for long enough
for the last gust to dance on through.”

So I held on, held on, held on,
They said that’s how you know you’re strong
      But not until I wilted
      did I notice something wrong.

I thought holding on was bravery
But when winds of change do blow
      Sometimes it’s even braver still
to let go, let go, let go.

Thanks for sharing iwillbeok, it’s interesting how many interpretations there are of holding on and letting go. I saw someone else had shared a poem on here about a week ago, I think it was there own poem and I meant to respond but didn’t have time and now I can’t find it! 🙂

Argh so frustrating when you can’t find something you read and want to read again.

I also find myself re-interpreting songs. Some were obvious of course about heartbreak etc..

I cannot stand ‘I’m only human’ as all I hear is an abuser making excuses. I may be completely off base, but that’s how it sounds to me…

There was a poem by Pondlife at the beginning of June. If you search Free speech it’s the 2nd post from the top…
