Please offer your opinions on this…

(detail removed by Moderator) my daughter (detail removed by Moderator) and when I found out I contacted the school, it was over a friendship group fall out, and they sent her to the nurse and have been most helpful etc.

However, my daughter asked me to contact her dad and tell him (we have been split for (detail removed by Moderator)years and (detail removed by Moderator) had a bit of a nasty court battle but all has settled now and I’d like to move forward from it. I haven’t directly spoken to him for (detail removed by Moderator)yrs) my other daughter said straight away ‘(name removed by Moderator) wont let you do that.’ but I stood my ground and did it. Was I right to contact her dad directly? Do the alarm bells ring that my daughter has noticed her step-dad’s attitude and control?

His only concern since then has been if my daughters dad has been in contact again, not how any of us are coping with it.

      Any opinions welcome xx

      Hi Blossom24,

What I can see is that you did what was best for your daughter, what she asked for and what she needed, to support her through a difficult time. It’s not okay for your husband to be controlling about who you’re allowed to contact. Children do pick up on a lot when they’re living around abuse and this does have an impact on them. Many local domestic abuse services have dedicated children and young people’s services, so if you are concerned about how your children are being affected you could reach out for some support.

      Take care and keep posting,
      Lisa
