For divorce there is normally no legal aid.

You can ask Rights of Women and the CAB.
Make sure you are the applicant.
If he comes first refuse to accept it because it will cause you a lot of problems to be the respondent. Ensure he is the respondent.
Before you start financial proceedings make sure all your money is safe, he has no access to your finances and you have locked all your possessions somewhere invisible and inaccessible so that you do not have to declare them to the court.
You are not allowed to have more than £16000.
If you have a car together better sell it now and loose the money in gambling (do what you need to do to NOT let him have the money)
I have this advice because I experienced the horrors of the family court and how awful they treat women. I do not want any man to have anything. I wish poverty on all of them.

Hi, I am getting the ball rolling on divorcing my bottom-feeder also.  (detail removed by moderator)

Time to kick back into gear that strong woman who got him arrested and fight for what i and my children deserve.

‘Cretin’. I like this word jellyfish, he shall be known from now on as the cretin.

        xx

      Hi Hun

Check about legal aid as some people get it and some dont, they have some criteria that they work against on all the income that comes in, i know i got told i couldnt get cause of my income but was told to review it shoudl my scenario change .

Only advice i can think of is dont have too much money stacked away, sadly most of dont have anyway. I have small second hand car, this is the only asset i have and have declared as need for my work. the first part of divorce is simple its the financial proceeding that cause the delay, again not sure if you have a pension, but they tend to rry and claim half of that too, i find that digusting that they calim on anything we have even after we have left

I get legal aid for divorce. It’s based on my earnings nothing else but I think that may just be in (detail removed by moderator)?

I was told I’d be entitled to legal aid given I’ve had to flee work and home due to circumstances. But it’s so hard finding someone local to my home that take on DV divorce cases.

I’m hoping if I go the through NCDV they’ll help in some way. I may just save up and divorce him without legal aid. But no one can take me for a ride since I have no money to my name. Ha.

      Good on you!
If you have nothing the financial proceedings can be shortened. You might not have to fill in that over 20 pages book!
