      Hi everyone,

I just wanted to update on my journey. The police have charged my abusive ex. Even after the time that’s passed, he’s been charged. I finally feel, after the most horrifically stressful time since the abuse began years ago, a sense of justice and inner peace slowly starting to emerge. It breaks my heart, and angers me, knowing that other women are being let down badly by the police and it’s clear a huge amount still needs to be done. I was lucky that the officers dealing with me had clearly received training and knew exactly how to handle the situation sensitively- as I shared in an earlier post one of them even shared that she’d been in an emotionally abusive relationship in the past. Her ability to truly understand what I went through helped so much. I thought to myself – could you imagine a world where everyone on this forum was a police officer attending to these situations? What a different place the world would be ….

I wanted to share in case it helps anyone else in a similar situation.

      ❤️

Encouraging to hear and really happy that you have been heard correctly and take seriously.
The first officer i spoke to was amazing, shed also suffered an abusive relationship, sadly the investigating officer dismissed the first officer ‘as just a junior’ and then proceeded to be completely off hand with me. She said the right things, but the tone of it said far more! She didn’t investigate. I have been left confused and concerned, although at the very least, Claires law might help his next victim.

I have yet to come across a police officer like this. I am glad you found one.
