I don’t know how to feel right now, I asked my ex partner to leave almost (removed by moderator) weeks ago, after speaking to a professional I figured out it was emotional abuse. I just don’t know how I’m supposed to keep going

      Hello,
I am very new to this forum myself (although the last 7 days have felt like a lifetime)
I very recently left my husband and I’m staying with a friend. I felt like I had made the biggest mistake ever. I’ve been taking it hour by hour. I’m feeling much better – mainly due to a good support network and a very good friend holding a mirror up to all my questioning. You will feel better. I did t think I would feel better. I do feel better and so will you. Xx

There’s no right or wrong way to feel. It’s going to be a rollercoaster of emotions. Just take baby steps. Hour by hour and day by day. Minute by minute if you need to. Make sure you eat and drink. Force the food down and drink plenty water. And be very kind to yourself x

      Hi angelcity,

How are you feeling today? You’re certainly not alone in this; lots of women feel lost or unsure about themselves after an abusive relationship. It’s a massive change to have to get used to, and the healing process can take some time. Try to be patient with yourself, keep reaching out for as much support as you can.

You could contact your local domestic abuse service to see if they have any specialist counselling available, you could contact the Samaritans if you need to talk (116 123), and certainly keep posting on here as so many other women will have been exactly where you are now.

      Take care,

      Lisa
