My ex partner father of my children’s fiancé has harassed me, texts, calls, slagged me off over social media, portrayed me to be evil, but most recent she assaulted me. Stamped on my face, dragged me along the floor, cut my knees open, pulled hair out etc. They’ve left me alone since as we are now going through court for the kids. However, I can’t cope with living like I am, I’m so scared, I don’t go out, I check cars on car parks just incase they are there, my heart sinks if I glimpse at someone who looks like them, I don’t socialise with friends anymore etc. Where do I go from here 🙁

Why did you not immediately call police and ambulance? You can still speak to the police. Please do not let this go.

The police were called I have a statement but she told them she would make a claim against me even though I didn’t do anything.
They knew I’m at college studying (detail removed by moderator) and anything on a criminal record would mess it all up.
The police said we would both get cautioned if we both made claims. I dropped it as I wanted a career to better my children’s lives. Now I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place

      Hi Snowflake,

I am pleased that you have posted and already had some supportive replies. This is very serious abuse and I would recommend that you try to speak to the Police again. I do not understand why you would be cautioned? Also please speak to your college about what has happened to try and see what impact there would be. It seems very wrong that you would be penalised for their actions. Could you also see if you could get an injunction out against them or even consider moving somewhere where they would not know where you are?

We are all here for you.

      Best wishes,

Can you in any way get free legal support? Universities usually have a free legal sevice for students. You need to find out from the police whether she has reported you. If not she just tried to scare you. Usually the one who reports first has an advantage. I do not understand why you should receive a caution for being attacked. What was wrong with the police who dealt with your case?

She rang the police as she opened said that night she tried to set me up.
The police took a statement and could see the shoe mark on my face and my cut legs that are scarred. He’s applied for a court order I’ve had the letter today now I’m petrified. I’ve rang 101 and I’m filing assault now to try and safe guard my children against a monster. I feel so helpless and scared but I’m scared of opening up incase it’s used against me in court.. I ain’t mentally unstable but I do fear for my safety every time I go out. I’ve phoned women’s aid today they’ve taken my details and are calling me back but I jus feel suffocated like I need answers. My babies are the only thing that gives me happiness and I just couldn’t bare the thought of them being in her care right now. Xx

Can you get legal aid? You need a lawyer. That will sort them out. There are some good criminal lawyers around who take on legal aid cases.

I’m not 100% sure if I can because it wasn’t actually my ex that assaulted me
However I have got everything numbers off the police from other things that have happened so it’s a grey area. I need a bit of guidance so I hope when I see my solicitor Monday or women’s aid call me back that they can clear this up for me. At the moment I’ve been told no as its a private matter not a domestic incident? But we shall see now I have those numbers X
