I think I’m in a bad place and really need to get some counselling sorted out but have no money. I thought the Talking Therapies I was on a wait list for was going to be good but its CBT and I don’t think its suitable for my situation with the ongoing post separation abuse along with the PTSD and constant daily triggers. I tried to find a therapist myself but they were all around £100 which is way out of anything I can afford. Does anyone know if there is anywhere in the whole of the UK that offers free trauma therapy for domestic abuse? How does everyone else fund their therapy, I just don’t have that sort of money, i have no money, hardly enough for kids shoes.
Hi, try the charity called Healed Scars – they specialise in helping women who have experienced trauma. Just a heads up, the lady who phoned me to schedule my first session was very cold and a bit patronising which nearly put me off but once I was referred it was a different lady. X
Hi. You could take a look at Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ACT (a type of cognitive therapy). You may find that practitioners charge less than 100 pounds. There are some good self help books based on ACT with free resources to support you accessible online. One book based on ACT for trauma problems is called (unfortunately) The Reality Slap. By Russ Harris. But there are other ACT books out there.
