A man and current girlfriend go camping with kids in the same tent: the mans daughter (to a ex girlfriend) a mans “step-daughter” (his ex girlfriends daughter) and current girlfriends niece. The pair did not tell me about it either, which I am pretty sure they are supposed to. I just feel a bit uneasy about this, but wanted to ask if you felt this is normal and I just feel sick because of who he is, and angered because it was my daughter that told me and not him.

It depends on the history of the man in question. The bottom line is your gut is telling you something is wrong about this. Always listen to your gut. If it’s his step daughter then I’m assuming he has no legal right to have access to her? Depending on her age, I’d be concerned. It’s the secrecy too that would ring alarm bells. Why not just tell you they’re going camping.

he has legal rights because he bought them

How big was the tent? Was it one of those huge ones with separate rooms?

Not that if there was secrecy it is right. I’d imagine the daughter and stepdaughter, if they’ve lived together or been involved in family life, would enjoy each other’s company and have fun. Or would feel it unfair for one and not the other to go.

I don’t know anything about the tent or where they went.

I feel a bit queasy because he is a fully grown man…with a history of being a pervert (not going into it) who goes away with three young girls, two of which aren’t related to him, and does not mention it to their mum. I mean, when they came back he said that he was out and about with them, no mention of camp. I have felt quite sick when he has played “horsey” with my daughter, laying down before, but I am trying to rationalize it. Maybe that is normal?
